3-hour trips

A TamarSail expedition usually takes 3 hours.

All trips start from Saltash, but then, given suitable tide and wind, the choice is yours. Whichever direction you go, the views are excellent and there is little other traffic to disturb the peace.

On the River Tamar, itself, you can sail upstream past the mouth of the River Tavy, past picturesque Cargeen to Weir Quay. Leave behind the sound of traffic on the bridge and sail past wooded hillsides and gentle open farmland.

On the deserted Lynher tributary, you can pass Antony House and Trematon Castle before the river broadens out as we sail lazily towards Dandy Hole, a favourite holiday anchorage for those who want to get away from it all.

When the tide is too low to venture all the way to Weir Quay or Dandy Hole, it is still possible to explore the lower stretches and have a taste of both arms of the rivers.

Alternatively we can sail downstream, where the busy dockyard on one bank contrasts with the rural stretches on the other.

When you phone to book your trip, you will be able to choose from the options that are available with the tides that day. Whichever you choose, there is great landscape to enjoy and plenty of evidence of the river's busy past.

Most 3-hour trips take place in the morning or afternoon, but occasionally evening trips are available, to take advantage of good tides.

Individual bookings can be made and trips will operate with a minimum of two passengers. Group bookings benefit from reduced prices.
